My first cloche!

The first day I discovered blogland I ran across Thrifty Decor Chick's cloche.  I fell in love, I love a cloche and all of the decorating possibilities it has.  Think eggs for spring, shells for summer, pumpkins for fall, the list goes on and on.  It actually took me a few months to find my first glass dome.  I was enjoying vacation in North Carolina when we we ran across my first one at a thrift store!!!!!  I screamed with joy as I ran and grabbed the dome!  After returning from vacay I seem to run across glass domes on almost every thrift outing.  I've been collecting them for some super crafty idea once it comes to me.  After showing my husband a picture of Thrifty Decor Chick's cloche he helped me create my own.  I purchased an old candlestick for .49 cents.

We cut the candlestick down to our desired height.  I wanted to glue the wooden base for the glass dome on the candlestick but my husband actually nailed it together.  This caused the wooden base to crack, so we ended up using glue anyways.

I sprayed painted the candlestick and wood base black with my cheapo .99 cents spray paint from Lowes.  I love it, I've placed it on my mantle and I can't stop looking at it!

Here is the link: http://debbie-debbiedoos.blogspot.com . You will meet other newbies there...it's fun! I am following you now.
