Sunshine Patio Set

I scored an awesome free patio set on Craigslist!  My husband and I actually went to pick up a swing set and the owners asked us if we wanted a small patio set.  It was a ugly mess to begin with.  I hate, hate, hate hunter green and of course the set was hunter green.  The plastic was unraveling on the chair arms and the glass was busted out of the table.

My first step to rehabbing this set was to rip the plastic off of the chair arms.  The chairs were dirty so I cleaned them up with some water and minimal scrubbing.  I primed the chairs with Rust-Olem spray primer.  I then used an awesome shade of Rust-Olem yellow spray paint to coat the chairs, I actually used two coats then did a few touch-ups.  I used a .99 cents can of white spray paint from Lowes to paint the chair backs.

I love this stuff it works just as well as the pricey stuff, I always have a can of white and black handy.  I picked up some clearance fabric at Wal-Mart and made a cute little throw pillow.  I plan on making one more!

I was really excited to put the set to use so I made a make-shift table top.  I traced the top of the table onto cardboard and cut around my tracing.  I covered the cardboard in batting and glued it in place with my glue gun.  I then pinned some of the matching fabric from the pillow onto the cardboard.  This is cute for now until my husband can help me make a new table top out of ply-wood or some other durable material.  I love bright pop of yellow!
